Welcome Monday! I am once again joining Susan at Between Naps On the Porch for her wonderful Monday party!!
I have had QUITE the weekend let me tell you! I decided after getting the new door :) that of course call for MORE projects! Of course...right?
The first project was "relatively" easy. I wanted to move the below rug into my kitchen! I know, I know, everyone in my house has said, "I have never seen a rug in a kitchen." Well, they have now....

The first project was "relatively" easy. I wanted to move the below rug into my kitchen! I know, I know, everyone in my house has said, "I have never seen a rug in a kitchen." Well, they have now....
This would be Sissie trying to stay up high and out of the way of a certain Bella....
What do we think??
I think it warms the room up. I HATE the tile in my kitchen! It is white! I mean, who does that? WHITE TILE! Cold, impersonal and so not easy to keep clean! Yes, it could get dirty, I will be careful! It's just a rug after all...no big deal, right? If I decide I don't like it, I can always move it back!
Second project of the weekend, painting the dining room. It has anaglypta paper on the bottom half below the chair rail which was painted deep red (see first photo) with a pale gold on the top. I was ready for a lighter and brighter look.
Beth at from The Stories from A to Z says that the BEST green color in the world is Benjamin Moore Rosemary Twig! Hey, I took her at her word and went and got a gallon. Didn't look at a swatch, just told the girl what color paint I wanted and took it to the house.
This is the before...
After...
I also changed the overlay on the table.
It was deep red velvet and I got a couple of yards of
fabric from Hobby Lobby and just threw it over the table.
My work is NEVER done...
I'm just sayin'
Thanks for your visit so much
Be sure and check out everyone else ")
The rug looks wonderful in the kitchen. It really will be warm. I just remember kitchen carpet from way back and with smaller children, it was a disaster. I think white tile is just as hard to keep clean. Love the new paint color in the dining room. Such a pretty green. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteHi Lou Cinda! Honey, you've been a very busy gal haven't you? I love that rug in your kitchen. It's really pretty. I would probably ruin it because I'm always dropping things and spilling stuff on my kitchen floors.
ReplyDeleteOh, and how pretty your dining room looks! I love that soft green color. I have green in my dining room and living room and just love it. Don't tell anyone, but I'm painting my kitchen and breakfast room right now! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Girl, you aren't kidding about the green... it looks great! Love that color, and love that rug in your kitchen, too. I had an oriental in my kitchen, and I still think it was a great look. I'm not a sloppy cook (kinda hard to be when you're doing takeout ;-) but it was a breeze in there. There is always Stanley Steamer if things get messed up! Go for it.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Oh, and Happy Met Monday!
ReplyDeleteI love rugs in my kitchen and change them out a lot. In the summer a sisal rug or one of the outdoor rugs are great because they clean up so well. Vacuuming them alot helps too, (you gotta do what ya gotta do!!!).
ReplyDeleteLove that dining room too. I'll remember Rosemary Twig!!
xoxo

Our work is never done , LOL ! I do love your rug and that new color is so pretty - you are so brave to buy it without looking at the sample !
ReplyDeleteKammy
Love the rug in the kitchen...looks great! I have had large area rugs in my kitchens and have always liked the feel of them...warm and cozy! How brave of you on that paint color...looks beautiful. Hope you have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Linda
I think the rug was a great idea. I love the ones that are indoor/outdoor. When they get dirty, you just take them outside and hose 'em down...kinda like I do Cat Daddy!
ReplyDeleteIt all looks beautiful.
Debbie
Love that green--it transforms that space to a much more happy and serene place. Yes, I like the rug in the kitchen (strange we both did it this week!!..I just feel much happier and cozier with mine in the kitchen and mine is so old and beat up it doesn't really matter if it gets dirty>
ReplyDeleteYou have been one busy lady!! I really like the rug in kitchen...it does warm it up. My dining room needs a change too so I read with interest about your dining room color change. I like the color you painted and the room looks very put together...might have to go check out the Benjamin Moore paint!
ReplyDeleteJane

ReplyDeleteOnce the kids are old enough not to slop or drop things onto the kitchen floor, I think is great and yours looks fantastic. Thankfully, I can have a rug in my kitchen now too!

Loving the after. So inviting. I think trying to pick out a color is the HARDEST thing to do. They always look different on the wall then what I had pictured in my mind! Ya did good :o)

So many changes and never enough time...isn't that the way it always goes. I like the rug in the kitchen. Nothing wrong with something unexpected, it keeps life interesting.
ReplyDeleteWas that a big fluffy cat I see....Love it~
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I feel the same way! The work is never done! Thanks for stopping by :) Blair
ReplyDeletea girl after my own heart - a rug in the kitchen! I am wanting to do the same thing to my master bath. It's cavernous and i think i 5 x 8 rug will warm it up! The man, however, thinks i've lost my mind. He'll get over it. BTW - the red front door rocks too. KEEP IT RED. please. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the rug. I love that it adds color and warms up the kitchen. What I really noticed was the island. I love the scroll? is that an applique that you put on there? I bought a HUGE scroll yesterday so I have scrolls on my mind. I find that they add architectural interest to everything! Also- I broke the 100's for you! I'm now friend 101! Yeah you!
ReplyDeleteI love that you thought "outside the box" and creatively covered something you didn't care for. Well done!
ReplyDeleteMy you are busy!! Looks great, don;t you just love to freshen up a room, what a buzz!! All the best,Chrissy
ReplyDeleteI sure thought I left you a comment on that beautiful rug, but I guess I got sidetracked! It looks great in the kitchen. I love the black amoire and table and chairs. Oh, and your island! I've been thinking about painting mine. Yours looks great! The ribbon/mesh wreath would look wonderful for Christmas. I have an idea for one that I will be making and posting soon. Kristen
ReplyDeleteI agree with you! It definitly wamrs up the kitchen, great idea!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great day,
Aimee
Hi! I love the changes you made. Did you get that rug at Lowe's? I think I have the same one under my kitchen table!
ReplyDeleteCome by for a visit!
Blessings,
Traci
Isn't that the way it goes? One thing just leads to another. But if you love to decorate, that can be a GOOD thing! The green paint is a pretty change.

Yes, we got your order and THANK YOU! Twin was going to come over tonight so we could get a few orders done but her son came home sick from school. We're just hoping it isn't the swine flu. It's going around!! Hopefully she will be able to come over tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteHi! I'm glad to meet you! Thanks for visiting me at Imparting Grace.
ReplyDeleteGirl, I had white tile in my kitchen when my sons were babies/toddlers. I thought it would drive me out of my mind. So I understand what you're thinking about the rug in the kitchen. It looks nice--hope it works for you!
I really like your new green walls. My dining room is a deep, brownish red (above the chair rail). I've had a red dining room in one shade or another for 18 years. Part of me wants to change; part of me still loves it. I'm not sure what to do!
Take care!
Lou Cinda- I like that rug in the kitchen! It really warms up the room, and having had a sterile white floor once, I know how hard it is to keep it from looking dirty. I saw that you ordered a monogram from Fern and Fran- it looks great on the mirror. I ordered a few things, too. Got them yesterday and will try to get my monogram up soon. The other two items were gifts- I hope their recipients will love them as much as I do.
ReplyDeletehugs, Sue
All of your changes look great! What an inviting kitchen you've created. laurie
ReplyDeleteI've had a rug in my kitchen before. I think yours looks lovely. And the new green is perfect! Thanks for coming by my blog!
ReplyDeleteI think the rug looks great in the kitchen and warms it up. I love eating area - so cozy!
ReplyDeleteHi Lou Cinda...
ReplyDeleteOhhh my goodness...you have been as busy as a little bee, Girlfriend! What an awesome transformation...I love everything you've done! A new door...I like the style of it! Ohhh...and I really, really like the rug in your kitchen! It's a beautiful rug...love the color and pattern...I think it's perfect in your kitchen! It really warms it up...and I agree with you about the white tiles...they are kind of "cold" and I bet they are fun to keep clean! Girl, seriously...I love that rug in your kitchen...I think you should keep it there! OMG...your dining room looks so different with the new wall color...that really is a beautiful shade of green! It looks alot like what I used in my living room...but I used Behr's "River Bank". I love green...it's a moody color, by that I mean that it changes with the lighting which brings alot of interest to the room! It's gorgeous, my friend! You're doing a fabulous job!!! Enjoy!!! I'll have to stay tuned on the progress at your place...it's so exciting!!!
Warmest wishes,
Chari @Happy To Design
PS...thanks so much for stopping by...sure enjoyed your sweet note!
