You wanted to see the Grasshoppers??

You asked for it, you got it! Scroll down my friends to see the source of my terror!!! Now mind you I did NOT take these photos, and they are FREAKING me out that I am even looking at them this closely!! Steve came home and took them for me, then he killed the little beast!

Now mind you, this is the second wave of these things.....this is NOT I repeat NOT as big as they get! They get BIGGER than this!!! I ain't even lyin'

Holie Molie!! I HATE those things! I think they could haul off one of my cats!! Their abdomen's are just so huge!! Don't they look crunchy to you???

Hate'em!! Oh and BTW I checked on the internet and with Lowes to see if there is something I can put on my plants to keep these things from eating them. Guess what? NOPE!! Anything that would be strong enough to kill these BEASTS will kill the plants!!

The are called "Giant Grasshoppers"! DUH! Ya' think? I was looking for some terminology like....grasshopperous arealeous or something technical. But no, they are called Giant Grasshoppers and it stated the best way to get rid of them was with a 2X4! Smash'em!

Nothing will eat them because they are so NASTY!! Birds won't eat'em, other bugs won't eat'em, nothing will eat'em! That's just great!

I had another episode yesterday, once again, Steve not home, all alone with the grasshoppers in my plants on the porch! I was talking to them and telling them as soon as Steve got home, he was taking a picture and then they were dead. I told them they had better leave then if they wanted to live to see the sun set again, I gave them a chance.....I warned them.....they had plenty of opportunities! They did not go! After the photo op ~ which I was jumping around and screaming during, Exterminator Steve took care of them!

Just another day in the neighborhood....

  2. LOL! Exterminator Steve? Oh, that is priceless! I'm laughing because he and Exterminator Fred share something in common. Wives with the heebie jeebies over bugs! And those are NASTY, my friend! Ewwwwwwww!

  4. The Exterminator to the rescue. I hope you are rewarding him big time for all the grasshopper slaying you have him doing!
I checked with Texas A&M and while they suggest high force water spraying...nope, you're right...nothing will kill them except a size 10 boot!

  5. LouCinda, what a crazy, pardon me, funny story about those grasshoppers! They are amazing. I also enjoyed your sweet story about Steve in the previous post. So glad you have such a wonderful husband. Oh, about Stone Mountain, it is the 8th natural wonder of the world - largest exposed piece of granite (I think I am right on that). Hope you get to visit the park. Linda

  7. You did give them fair warning. Too bad they were too arrogant to listen. I am not afraid of most bugs, but giant crunchy ones are definitely unpleasant, and if they are eating plants, doubly so. Can you spray hot sauce on the leaves or are they so mean they will eat it anyway and spit it back at you?

  10. Oh my, I don't like the little ones, and that one looks huge. I would definitely not want one of those. I wanted to let you know that the next "Cloche Party" has been scheduled for Sept. 11th for the Fall season. I see you have the old button. I do have a new one without a date, so if you would grab it and display it to remind you and to let all your friends know, I would really appreciate it. The last one was such fun, and I hope you will join this one. See you there. Hugs, Marty

  11. Okay Lou Cinda...here's the deal. I came earlier this week and read your post. Well, I really didn't read it all because the grasshoppers were so creepy and you know that I DON'T DO BUGS so I just left without leaving a comment. Now I'm being a big girl and I'm not looking at the pictures but I am BEGGING you to hurry up and post something pretty! ;)

  14. I just caught 3 grasshoppers today although not truly big ones and black like yours. I don't mind their look & I will free them if I can find a place to but definitely not anywhere near my garden or my neighbour's garden.
