I am going to……….SCOTT”S

Things are getting back to normal around the house….the tree is down….my chair and cozy throw are back in place…the cats are happy…

The kitchen is de-Christmased….see those flowers over the sink on the window?  They are fixing to come down and I am actually going to “attempt” to make a valance…”attempt” being the operative word…

BUT….

I am SO excited!!  I am finally going to Scott’s in Atlanta tomorrow!!  I have wanted to go for about a year and a half and Saturday…..I am going!!  My girlfriends Sharon and Teresa are making the trek with me…it is about a 2.5 hour drive and we are leaving at the butt crack of dawn let me tell you, to make the MOST of our day there….I predict that we will become addicted…I predict that we will fill Sharon’s husband’s suburban up with treasures…I predict we will go back again and again….

I am also looking forward to meeting Sherry Hart of Design Indulgence.  She is totally a lover of Scott’s and has just tormented me EVERY month when she goes and comes back with these AWESOME finds!  We are going to meet up and I know she will “share” the dos and don’ts of doing Scotts!  She is hilarious and is a wonderful designer….can’t wait to meet her.

On another note Sharon, Jamie, Peggi and I went to an auction last Saturday night!  FUN!!!!  Yeah, I am going back!  It was a blast!  I used to go to auctions all the time and then just didn’t go anymore….so Saturday night was a time of re-acclimating to the bidding process once again!  It went so FAST!  The later it got the faster it went!  It was hilarious!  I have had buyer’s remorse on several things I didn’t get that I should have!  Like the french country table, six chairs, hutch AND server….$400.00!  Yeah, $400.00!  About the time I had figured out that everything would fit in my dining room and was about to lift the hand?  SOLD!  SHUT UP!

Then there was the table I REALLY liked…such pretty legs….gorgeous…I was thinking, that would be beautiful painted a creamy white….I think I am going to bid on it….SOLD for $40.00….are you believing that?  Missed out again!  But I am ready now….I know that you have to be ready….you have to know how high you are willing to go….and you have to actually throw your hand up and BID!!!  Come January 15th….I will be READY to bid on maybe this…

  3. Sounds like a fun trip, although I'm not sure about the "butt crack of dawn"; I think I'd need lots of coffee for that! ; ) Have fun and take lots of pictures, Lou Cinda!

  4. Oh, girl! I have always wanted to go there. You are so lucky, and I can't wait to see what you find!!! Take lots and lots of pictures for us.

I think the secret to auctions is to check out the goodies ahead of time and measure them. Then when it comes up on the block, you sit there like a spider and let others bid it up and then pounce! Just be sure to pounce before the auctioneer gavels it, though. This was always very effective for me on eBay. In the old days, I used to get into bidding wars with one particular buyer who ended up with "The Evil" in front of his screen name. LOL!

    Go have fun!

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  5. We used to do Scott Antique Market, but I haven't been there in a while! We did the old Lakewood show for 5 years and when they closed down we got transplanted to Scott! But, it was never quite the same as Lakewood! I really miss all my customers in Atlanta! Hope you have a great time! Make sure you go to the very back row on the south side outside. That's where King David sets up and he has the best stuff at a great price! We all had nicknames for each other! He will get a kick out of it if you call him King David. His woman's name is Rosa! She is real shy, but very talented! Hope he's there cause you will lose your mind!

  7. Oooh, I love corner cabinets like that! For my hacienda, I'd probably do a flat black, rubbed finish. Depending on which room it'd go in.
I do think I'm running out of corners, tho..lol.
I haven't been to an actual auction, sounds like great deals!!

  11. You sound like you are having a blast! Good for you. Stay safe in this weather. I hope you do not lose power either, or do we for that matter. I feel like I am back in Buffalo again these days being so cold and snow and all.
    Have fun making your valance.

  12. I live only an hour from Scott's and have never been! I am going to get there one day. I wish I had know I could have met y'all too. I need a lesson in shopping there, too. I know it is huge. Snow will be here soon.

  13. Hi, LouCinda, so glad you stopped by! It has been sleeting here for a few hours, I fear the snow is next. Just hope we don't lose power.

Yes, I have been to Scott's many times, very fun place. in fact, 2 of my fave antiques are from there. I would love to meet Sherry too, in fact I featured her bathroom one time. She seems like a great gal, what fun to shop together. I've seen her talking about Scotts a lot too.

    Happy New year!

  17. Love auctions!!
But, once I start biding, I cannot stop! It can be disastrous. Therefore, I go rarely, and then to fund raiser auctions, so if i way over bid, it went to a good cause. =)
Like the pie I paid $40 for to earn $ for our childrens ministry at church. =)

  18. Was Scott's fabulous? Worth the 2 1/2 hour trek??? I love those girlie days with good friends. Lots of giggling and I'm sure there was some coffee thrown in too!

Ahhh....yes, the auction scene. I did that years and years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter. All I wanted to do during the whole darn thing was scratch my head.... I knew the fella would yell "sold" and I was scared to death. I was only 20 with NO $$$$, so that would NOT have been a good thing. I didn't buy anything, but my dad went with me so it's a good memory.

Love the pix of the deeee.lish furniture. Especially that table and chairs. Those kinds of things don't come up terribly often here in the Pacific NW. I'm thinking I'd like a table and chair change. My Hubbs will SHOOT me....after I begged for those Pottery Barn wicker chairs. Ooooops! :-)

    Big huggies sweet chickie!

  19. Here I am in GA and didn't even know about Scotts! Thanks for the tip. I'll have to check it out when I go that way. Did you actually make it there and back? The weather was so bad.
Love your little chair in the corner. Looks so comfy. I used to go to auctions too. It's been a long time. Fun, fun!

  20. Isn't it wonderful to have your house back to "normal" after the holidays? I remember going to auctions a lot when I was little (with my mom), but haven't been in decades. It sounds like SO MUCH FUN!

I am super-jealous of your trip to Scotts! I can't wait to read all about it!
