I finished my valance and got it installed…(how do you like that professional word “installed”?) lol
This is the before…..
It was dark so this is not the greatest photo…I loved this when I did it, sort of a cottagey look…..
However….
look closely at the dust……
DEAR HEAVEN!
I had already pulled the flowers down on the right side when I took these photos…
“Nekkid”….
Dressed….SHUT UP! I can’t believe I did it!
Look at the little hangy down part…
I had to play with the clip rings to get it like I wanted it…and after Steve hung the rod….I wanted it higher so he had to move it….he gave me “the look”…took him all of 10 minutes…..much better…
Look Sonya!!!! Janice!!!! Sonya at Beyond the Screen Door gave me step by step instructions on how to do this…she is SUCH a sweetheart! She is the most unbelievable seamstress and designer and she sent me an e-mail which I printed out and I used her instructions all the way through! Like a bible! lol And my girlfriend, Janice, answered many questions for me! I love you Janice!!! THANK YOU SONYA!!
I have always LOVED this floral fabric…
I am so proud of myself that I did not cuss everything in sight when I was making these….you know me + a sewing machine usually = Please Lord don’t let the rapture come while I am sewing!
Steve bought me a sewing machine for Christmas and it is AMAZING what a difference it makes when the darn thing actually DOES what it is supposed to!
The only time I said an ugly word was when I tripped over the sewing machine cord…..I am so PROUD!!
One more time……Nekkid as in nude….
and….dressed….
What do you think???
Thank you for stopping by….
Kisses :)
That is beautiful!!! I love the two fabrics together and am jealous:) Good for you that it didn't cause a rapture, hahahaha! But seriously you should be proud of yourself for the curtain(and the lack of frustration!)!
ReplyDeleteYou have me chuckling this morning!!!
ReplyDeleteI love that you felt the need to explain nekkid -I guess as a Southern girls, we just think everyone knows!!
I do love the new look - love the fabric - love the black rod and little rings...you nailed it!
And, only one cuss word - aka curse!
Rhonda
It's gorgeous, Lou Cinda! I love the fabrics and the 'hangy down part'...it looks very professional. I once had one of those floral arrangements things done on a window, a friend did it for me and I felt obligated to keep it up forever. And yes, the DUST!!
ReplyDeleteYour window is really pretty, too. Looks great even nekkid! And around here, instead of cuss or curse, we say swears. Oh, the miles!!
Have a great day, girlfriend!
XO,
Jane
SHUT UP! : )That looks fabulous, Lou Cinda! You'll have to forward those instructions onto me, I've got one of these planned, but I was going to wing it the way I thought it would go. Love the fabric. I have a fabric you'd love that I want to use - it is red and has bunnies in it. They are supposed to be tureens and the background is red. I'll have to take a picture and send it to you.
ReplyDeleteYou have got to be kidding me, Lou Cinda?
ReplyDeleteYou made that CUTE CUTE CUTE valanace??? Girl! I just LOVE it! I know you have got to be in heaven because I keep going back and staring at how great that looks. I am so impressed. You can upholster AND make curtains! Do you think you can stand by me and that maybe some of that will rub off??? Man, what I wouldn't give! This really is darling and how great that you had friends who walked you through the process.
Okay, now I want to see those chairs. I think I'm as excited as you are over seeing them spray painted (and seeing them at all). I literally cannot wait!
Great job on this darling valance. Spiffs up that whole window to the point of WOW! Definitely got that wow factor going, girl.
XO,
Sheila :-)
Love it! Good job!! Is that a Waverly pattern? It is really so lovely. Marla
ReplyDeleteIt's wonderful. I love it. Your fabric choices are gorgeous and it looks like a designer creation. Stunning. Good for you. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful window to work with, too. Love the little side shelves. Your choice of fabrics are perfect! I love putting rings on valances. It just pops! Looks great!!!

Oh Lou Cinda...what a fabulous job you did on the valance! BEAUTIFUL! I love the way it looks on that huge window...what a view! I actually have that same floral fabric...I made pillows from it a few years ago. I like the contrast with the check! Great job girlfriend!~Hugs, Patti

ReplyDeleteHugs,
Victoria
Love it dressed!! But it kinda looked good nekkid too. The best part is when the dust starts to settle, just take it down and wash it! Great job!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks wonderful!!!! Sonya is a sweetheart for sure!
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny! She's not nekkid now! I really did love the flowers too... but yeah... dust! You did a great job. I love, love, love all of your colors.

Lou Cinda! Oh, your valance is beautiful and you made it? It looks awesome! I'm so proud of you. Only one ugly word? I had to giggle at that! Your fabric is so pretty and I love the little green check with it and the hangy down parts too! :)
ReplyDeleteNow what are you going to sew next? :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Well I am SO impressed! It looks so professional! Love the fabric choices, and you have every reason to be proud! You did great! laurie
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!! Your valance is so cute!!!!!! You did an amazing job. Also cudo's to Steve for his expertise in hanging the rod. I love, love, love your new valance in your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteLou Cinda! Look at you go! I am so proud of you! Your valance turned out adorable and I LOVE how you did the ends!
ReplyDeleteWe've all been there with the floral arrangements but I have to say it looks SO much better now. You did a GREAT job! So...what at you sewing next? :)
Looks GREAT! I liked it with the garland, but I REALLY like it with the new valance. Gorgeous. <3 Paula
ReplyDeletePretty valance! I'm liking it so much better than the flowers! You did a great job!
ReplyDeleteAdorable, Lou Cinda!! And of course you know I love that color combination of fabrics- think similarity of a certain Hickory Hill sofa fabric?! Once my new windows go in, I'll have to be figuring out what I'm gonna cover. We don't need the privacy, so valances are what I'm contemplating. You've done such a good job!! I can almost hear those "bad" words you may have mumbled in that accent! LOL
ReplyDeleteI tripped over a light cord in the garage 5 weeks ago and broke my big toe! Oh you KNOW I said MORE than my share of "bad" words! ouch...
Take care, toots! ♥ Sue
Very pretty. And that pop of color really brightens it up!
ReplyDeleteGood job!
Wow, Lou Cinda! Amazing! you did a fabulous job! I LOVE those fabrics! I hope you are having a great week!....hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteHi Lou Cinda-
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is so pretty, colorful and cozy. I think what you did with the valance looks wonderful. I love to see how a simple change can update a room instantly. I have some dusty flowers in one of my bathrooms and was just thinking earlier this week that it was time to bid them adieu.
My best- Diane
I LOVE it! It turned out so beautiful. You did a great job. You should be proud!!
ReplyDeleteI think it looks great!! I had to laugh hearing you talk about your sewing machine. I get a little verklempt every time I TRY to work with mine...Haven't gotten as far as it actually working yet, but I have a dream! Great job girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteAnd ya know I've always been a southern girl at heart...I really should live there...especially if 300k buys a 4000 sq ft house! What would 600k buy? Dare I ask? As soon as my hubbs retires we'll be relocatin' south I think *winks* Vanna
I absolutely love it! Well done. Bravo!

ReplyDeleteGirl you did an awesome job on this valance..I use to have the flower thing going on in my master bathroom and just took it down and also made curtains..of course I fought my sewing machine all the way ha ha!! Have a GREAT weekend my friend..Hugs and smiles Gloria
ReplyDeleteHi Lou Cinda, I just love your valance!!It looks so pretty, and i love your kitchen.
ReplyDeleteKathy
Love it, love it, love it!! Yes I do! I love the look and I love the fabric. Okay, now we need YOUR instructions! Do you feel the need to share with us? Like you, I would need a step by step. I was really grinnin' reading your post today. Great job. Be proud of yourself!
ReplyDeleteDonna
Wow! That valance turned out great. I too can get a little wound up when doing a sewing project. Thanks for all of your sweet comments over at my blog.
ReplyDeleteHee Haw...tripping over the cord...now that would have made me laugh! I am impressed that you actually sewed a window treatment. I am good for pillows but I have never attempted that. What is it about fake flowers and dust??? Is it an attraction like moth and light? I have to say the valance was a good idea...it looks great!
ReplyDeleteHoly cats! I love it!!!!
ReplyDeletem ^..^
I love it, Lou CInda! I love the fabric colors and the mixture of the 3 patterns, still very cottagey. Good job!...Christine
ReplyDeleteOgling your curtains again, and wishing the weather would warm up so you can spray your chairs. Tell you what, bring them down here, and you can spray them at my house! Only, it's cold here today, too. Shucks!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Looks AMAZING Lou Cinda, especially the little hangy down part! lol
ReplyDeleteI love your choice of fabric. Looks smashing in the kitchen!

Your valance is lovely...but I cracked up. I so KNOW the look!!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your valance!! I love the combination of fabrics! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a sewing maching hater too. LOL AND, I think I have curtains in that floral fabric!!! Waverly? I don't have them up right no (although I did for Christmas), I love them so much, I can't part with them because I know I'll use hem again.
