I know these have been all over the place but I really LOVE these book page wreaths and had intended to make one for some time now. I picked up some old Reader’s Digest books at the thrift store and they were old ones, so the pages were already yellowed with age….
The process is a little, let’s say “tedious” and since I wanted to make a small wreath and the pages were old and brittle….and add to that my blonde-ness which does rear it’s ugly head from time to time with my “duh” moments….it was a process to get this accomplished but I persevered!
I cut my pages in half for the outside cones….and in fourths for the inside cones…
I used the top of a magic marker for to keep the circle in the middle uniform so it would be “pretty”…I am OCD like that…it’s a curse…
love the yellowed pages….
I am thinking about just leaning that picture on the mantel instead of it hanging on the wall, but I don’t know….mantels are hard for me and mine is so long it is a challenge! I am constantly tweaking this dang mantel!
I just nestled the wreath into the mantel vignette…..it is working for me for right now…..but that could change at any minute….a curse I tell ya’
Thank you so much for stopping by!
Hi Lou Cinda! OH, I love that wreath! You did good. I haven't made one of these but now I want to!
ReplyDeletebe a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
LOVE the wreath Lou Cinda! Your mantel looks wonderful!

Very nice! I have seen those around but have never attempted one. I was just looking at old books recently and wondering what I could do with some. Also, I think I would set that framed picture on the mantle too like you said you were thinking about. You say your mantle is too big and I say mine is too small! lol It's always something isn't it? lol If you have the time would you please stop by my latest post and let me know if if you have any opinions or info? I need imput before I "output" some $'s! Have a great day! ~Hugs, Patti
ReplyDeleteI love it! Your's is so pretty. I love the way the yellowed edges seem to wrap around each cone. I want to make one of these too. Love the little cupid on your mantel.
ReplyDeleteYour wreath came out great, Lou Cinda! Everything looks perfect to me.
ReplyDeleteI love your wreath...I have been wanting to make one but I am such a klutz! I think your mantel looks perfect. The picture looks great next to the wreath and I love your cupid!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
hmmm, I must be the only one who hasn't seen this particular one.
ReplyDeleteIt's really beautiful!
Any tutorials out there???
Hi Lou Cinda, I love your paper wreath. It just fits right in. Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteI always lean my pictures on mantels...gives such a relaxed feeling...yet elegant.
Happy Tuesday!
Barb ♥
Lou Cinda your wreath turned out great and you have it beautifully displayed on your mantel. Thanks for sharing and for your inspiration.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day,
Gail
How pretty, Lou Cinda! I made one from sheet music and it is a labor of love! I like the look of the text...interesting! I hope you are having a great week!...hugs...Debbie
ReplyDeleteThat turned out great, Lou Cinda! You're like me ~ I see these projects and want to do them and a year later . . . LOL! Good way to insure it stayed even and centered; I know I would mess it up with nothing to keep the center centered. I'd have a totally lopsided wreath. Idea: What if you move that other print so it is leaning against the one hanging on the wall - just off the corner of it.
ReplyDeleteYes, more snow tonight or tomorrow but this time we are really lucky ~ we get some freezing rain thrown into the mix! I know. You're jealous now, right? : ) I should have all my vacation time used up by the end of January!
I love your wreath and the way it looks on your mantel. I really like the smaller paper wreaths, so your's looks perfect.

Love the wreath - you did good! What about that gorgeous mirror hanging beside the mantel? Has it ever been up there? I think you might miss the height if you lean the picture. Maybe you could even hang the book wreath on the mirror.
ReplyDeleteOh I love the wreath and your whole mantel look, Lou Cinda. So pretty!...Christine
ReplyDeleteYour wreath looks great! I made a sheet music wreath before Christmas and still have it hanging above my piano. I know what a lot of work that is, and you did a wonderful job! Linda
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the wreath*! Between blonde and chemo brain, I'm not sure I can do it, but I just might give it a try*! Thanks for the idea*!

Now that is really cute! Don't know if I would have the patience to do my own, though!
ReplyDeleteIt turned out great Lou Cinda! I love its petite size! And your mantel in any incarnation looks wonderful! I am totally going to steal that keys hanging from the ironstone idea! I hope you don't mind? *winks* Vanna
ReplyDeleteI'm really lovin' your version of the book page wreath, Lou Cinda! It's so neatly and meticulously done.
ReplyDeleteI have always liked the idea of leaning a picture against a wall. I could see yours leaning and then topped with a smaller picture or an iron scroll to fill the height. Show us new photos if you change up your mantel again. :-)
hugs, Sue
That looks fabulous Lou Cinda!!! I love those edges as well, and I love the natural look with the green!
ReplyDeleteYour wreath looks just beautiful. I have been working on mine and I finally finished it today. I swear the thing keeps getting bigger and bigger by the day. Maybe that is because I keep tearing pages and adding the rolled pages to my wreath. Wah! My middle did not turn out as well as your middle did. I'm not surprised that your mantle looks just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Lou Cinda,
ReplyDeleteI just had a look at your blog and I really like it. I love the book page wreath you did. It is so very pretty. I have also just become a follower of your blog and wanted to say thank you for your kind words about my blog.

Great wreath! I would never have the patience to do one.
ReplyDeleteAnd LOVE your nest tag.
I have not seen those stamps.

Do you know, the only time I like my mantle is at Christmas! I have never been truly happy with the whole look! I may love certain items but it's a challange for me too! I think your's looks great and you did a great job on the wreath!
ReplyDeleteOh, I think it's darling, Lou Cinda! Love your wreath to pieces. I like the whole vignette. I think it's fun to change out a mantle, and I do mine frequently. That wreath is adorable there, but it would cute in other places, too. That's a clever idea. I've seen them around the net, and yours just looks great!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Lou Cinda your wreath turned out great! Love the yellowing. Your vignette looks fabulous! I wish I had mantel! I get mantel envy when everyone is showing off their great mantel vignettes!

Love this SO much~
ReplyDeleteI DO love that wreath! It was worth the time it took, although I'm not sure I could make myself do it. Would love one though. Your mantle looks so nice.
ReplyDeleteDonna
I love your mantle! It looks so warm and cozy. Great job on the wreath!
ReplyDeleteI am your newest follower! I found you because you found me from Thrifty Decor Chick. I love your style!!! Just looked thru some of you Christmas stuff, so pretty and classy! I hope you stop by often.
ReplyDeleteSweet looking wreath and it really did nestle in there nicely on your mantle. So nice!
ReplyDeleteDi
The wreath is great, but oh how I love the tag with Nest on it. Love the stamp if the birds nest, simply wonderful.
ReplyDeleteDonna
the wreath is fab! you did a great job! i've been wanting to make one of those too, but i don't do *tedious* well at all! i have a very short attention span! thanks for stopping by my blog, i always appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteLou Cinda, I love the wreath! I am in love with paper wreaths and old books.....so many gorgeous projects to do!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Mags
Lou Cinda, I've wanted to tackle that project too, but haven't worked up the courage (I am a natural blonde)! You are so cute. Your wreath turned out great, and I sure can't tell by looking at it that you have trouble with mantels. It looks so pretty. laurie
ReplyDeleteYour wreath is GORGEOUS! I am totally jealous! I've had all the supplies for months now (since, I'd say September?) and even have most of the pages torn out of the book and have just never finished it. *sigh* The story of my life. HAHA!
ReplyDeleteYour mantel is incredible, too!
You lost me at cut in half and then cut in quarters....math..not my strong point. Neither is brittle pages and glue. I don't care if they are all over blogland...there are 2.5 million people in metro Atlanta and I bet only a handful have one...so there. Cute!
