More Upholstery 101…

The “Ottoman”….the latest finished project in my class..I LOVE this fabric!!  LOVE IT!!  I want to just “waller” all over it I love it so much…and what is UP with cats…they have to sit on anything new that comes into the house….that is “part” of Bella to the right…waiting her turn…

101_1259

I did double cording AND single cording on this piece…look at me go….

101_1263

I have made three pillows out of this fabric for the sofa and the chair this ottoman sits in front of…found the fabric at Hobby Lobby…

101_1262

I was trying to find fabric that would coordinate with the plaid on the chair…I think this does…Simon thinks so too…

101_1265

I am working on another chair that goes in Cameron’s room now…a little bit more of a challenge…I break a nail EVERY week….shows how hard I am working!

On a side note….I wonder why those little wrenches are showing up on my sidebar under my pictures…do you see them?  I added a button yesterday and they just “appeared”…how do I make them go away??

Anyone???

  1. Oh, you have been busy again, girlfriend. Love, love, love the ottoman! The fabric is fabulous! I am so in awe of you. Still can't thread my machine and you are doing double cording!!

As far as the little wrenches go, only you can see them. It means you can 'fix' something. Go figure.

    Janie

  2. The ottoman is really cute and so is your model. I love that fabric too. You are becoming quite the pro!!!

The wrenches only show up on your end. We can't see them. It means you can click on it to change that particular item.

  3. Not only "single" cording but "double"? LOOK AT YOU GO! The ottoman is GORGEOUS! I think it would look perfect in my living room! ;o)

And I see the ladies above me already answered the wrench question!

  4. Girl, I am impressed!!! Looks GREAT! I can't get over the fact that you just started this and already you do this like a PRO. I'm so very proud of you.

Love that fabric, and I think you did a super job of coordinating it with your chair. Love the kitty on it. Isn't that just like a cat? They find the "new" piece and gravitate toward that. Mr. Al used to do that to my clothes. If I laid out a t-shirt, he would stare in disdain. If I laid out a silk dress, he was on it like white on rice! Cats!

    Love you...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  5. You are doing a fabulous job of reupholstering! I love that fabric too! Cats always seem to think when something new comes into the house that it is for them! Everyone has already filled you in on the wrenches...Thanks for your sweet comments on my dining room!~Hugs, Patti

  6. Yes, I think that only you can see the wrenches. It is how you can edit without being in the "edit" section. Look at you go you Double Cording Diva, you! ; ) Did you start the second chair? I love the way that chair turned out. Cats. I believe it. I am allergic to cats and don't you know that when I go to a client that has cats, they always hang around me and the client winds up saying, "oh, he likes you". Yes, of course, he does.

  8. Wow, you clever lady!
Yes, your nails will suffer with upholstering but it is soooo worth it :o) I bet you're learning more with each project you tackle.

  9. I'll have a double to go! Look at you Ms. Smarty Pants. Love Hobby Lobby for fabric and you did an excellent job mixing your patterns.

P.S. I first thought you were talking about "wenches" instead of "wrenches". Maybe I won't have a double after all!

  13. Very nice! It looks beautiful! Your cats are so cute...my cat also loves to sit on the strangest things. I found him sleeping in the laundry basket on all the fresh laundry earlier in the week. That basket sits in the same place every week but it took him years to decide to sleep in it!

  25. Hey, you! I'm back to say that I hope you have a good week. I will catch up with you when I return. I think you need to learn to do slipcovers next. I watched someone do them, and if I could only sew, I could make one! They don't look too complicated, but I'm sure they would be once you got into it. But you have really, REALLY made me want to take a course in upholstery!

    See you in a few...

    XO,

    Sheila :-)

  27. Wow - you did a great job...I was just looking at a blog showing a newly professionally covered chair and yours looks equally fabulous - you got the double cording perfectly and I think that really gives it such a great expensive look.

I see alot of upholstering in your future -
