Blessed….

This beautiful Easter weekend I had so many reasons to be thankful….

Thankful that Christ died on the cross for my sins…

Thankful that he arose…

I had other reasons to be thankful this weekend….

This is Seth, my oldest son’s car…

101_0637

He was on his way home Saturday when a cat ran out in front of him….

He veered to miss the cat….lost control of the car….started flipping….hit a deep ditch and a brick column at the end of a driveway…the column looked like it had exploded…

I got the call that we, as parents are TERRIFIED to receive….thankfully, the call was from Seth.

“Mom, I had a wreck.”

“Are you okay?”

“Yes. I am fine, just scared.”

“I am on my way.”

He was only TWO blocks from home.  When we got in the car I could see the flashing lights from my house!  They say most accidents happen within 5 miles from your own home.

I was very calm…I didn’t look at the car too  much Saturday…

I knew better…

Seth was shaking when we got to him…I can’t imagine the fear he felt, being so helpless in a car out of control…

I saw the car the next day and I remained calm, until I was all alone, then…I lost it….

I know a mother whose son had the SAME thing happen to her son two months ago…he veered, over compensated, lost control, flipped and hit a tree….he died…

I am so thankful that Seth was wearing his seatbelt…
I am so thankful that God was in that car with him and kept him from harm….

I am thankful that Easter morning, I had both of my boys with me in church….

Thank you God…..so much….

  1. oh my ~ I rejoice with you!! Thank you, Lord, thank you merciful Lord!!!! Amazing, beautiful blessing for your family. From the looks of the vehicle, it truly is a miracle that he is alive! And not even hurt enough to be in the hospital...Wow.

Lou Cinda, I'm so very happy for you -indeed, you did have a most glorious Resurrection Day...

  2. My heart goes out to you Lou Cinda! Thank God, for sure! I had a similar experience when my daughter hit a tree two years ago. The car was totaled and people couldn't believe she walked away from it when they saw the car. Her cause was a spider that came down from the ceiling of the car right in front of her while she was driving {in our development and on her way home}; not only does she hate spiders but it startled her. You'll be giving extra hugs for a while, but I'm sure he won't mind!

  3. I've been in very much that same position. Recieved the same call from my daughter. I know how terrifying it is for a parent to get that dreaded call. Thank the Lord he is fine.

  4. Lou Cinda...my heart goes out to you. I am so glad that Seth is okay. The car looks terrible. I am always saying a prayer whenever my kids get in their cars. And long trips...I host a vigil. It's a dangerous world out there and we have only one direction to look for comfort. I think I will show my girls your post. Thanks for sharing and I hope you are feeling a bit better now. And Seth, too.

  10. You snuck this post in on me?
My heart dropped when I saw the vehicle!!!! Oh Lou Cinda! He is okay! I can't imagine what you felt when YOU saw this...poor Seth. Those boys are going to get the best of you with their vehicle accidents...I'm just so happy they walk away each time. This looked horrible but thank goodness for all of the safety features now days.
So how many wrinkles did you get out of this? ;) oh...it doesn't matter, it's worth it knowing HE IS OKAY!

ps...I think I'd have closed my eyes and hit the cat. I know...but....

  11. I actually read your post yesterday, but couldn't put my thoughts into words. This is a fear of every parent. Each night when I say prayers with the kids we ask God to place his angels with them to keep them safe at home and at school. God and his angels were with your son that night. God bless you all.

  13. Oh Lou Cinda, I just read this post. Thank God Seth was not hurt. I know the terror too of having a child in a serious accident. Reading this made me re-live all over again when the car my Ashley was in flipped 3 times into the Arizona desert at 80 mph. They all crawled out a window. Some kids were hurt, but she was ok. I don't think you ever get over it. It is every parent's nightmare. Every time we let them go, we just have to put them in God's hands. He was definitely watching over your Seth.
