I know that I have been missing in action for a couple of weeks, but I have been CRAZY swamped at work, and if you read my blog, you know that I practically practice law without a license! Anyhoo, it has been a couple of weeks of deadlines and statutes running and all that sort of legal “stuff”.
And you also know that I LOVE my cats! I have four…yes, I know, that is alot. But I adore them!
When I got the first cat, Chloe, Seth was 5 and Cameron was 3. We had had her for several months and one Sunday morning Seth and Cameron came running into my bedroom as I was getting ready for church and they were just wide eyed! Mother, there is something wrong with Chloe!
I run down the hall and there she is…lying on the floor, rolling around and meowing really weird. I start thinking, she has been poisoned, she is dying! The I stop and study her….Oh no, I say. I think she is in heat.
Seth looks at me and says, what is heat? Well, it is something that happens to girl cats, but she will be fine. We will have to get her an operation.
After Sunday School, I am heading to choir and Seth’s Sunday School teacher comes up to me. We had prayer request this morning in Sunday School, she tells me. Okaaaaay, I say. Seth had a very important prayer request. He did? Yes. He asked for prayer for his cat who has “the heat”. We both just died laughing! I will never forget that as long as I live.
Chloe did recover and is a ripe 13 years old.
I came home from work on Tuesday and I notice Bella is acting weird.
She was rolling around in the floor and kept sticking her rear in the air and she was crying…..Oh No……
Not my sweet Bella!
I picked her up and she just put her head on my shoulder and I explained to her the facts of life and that sometimes it really bites being a girl….
So I called the vet and made an appointment to have her spayed. This morning I dropped her off…I cried as I left her…she looked so scared. I told her she would feel so much better…well…not initially, I mean, she will have an incision and stitches….but soon, she will feel better…
I almost chickened out and didn’t have her spayed. She stays in the house and all of my other cats have been either spayed or neutered. So, I looked it up on the internet to see how often cats go into heat. If they don’t get pregnant, they go into heat EVERY TWO OR THREE WEEKS!! I didn’t know that! It also said that they were very uncomfortable when they are in heat.
Ya’ think???
So…I took her this morning, I have called to check on her. She came through the surgery fine. I can pick her up tomorrow morning…
I think I will take off half a day tomorrow….just so I can take car of her…
It ain’t easy being a girl…
