Hello??? Anybody there??

It has been awhile since my last post!  Just a lot going on between losing my friend in the storm to Cameron’s graduation from high school and then a week at the beach….which was sooooooo needed.  It just soothed my  bruised soul….

Thank you so much for checking on me and making sure that I was alright….you have no idea how much it meant to me to open my e-mail and see a message from one of my precious blog friends wanting to make sure that I was okay….that also soothed my soul :)  My girlfriends do not understand the whole blog thing and that we actually know what is going on in each other’s lives and we care and pray for each other….but I understand and I am SO blessed and grateful for it!

I did manage to complete a project that I started weeks and weeks ago!  I know, I know, it truly is a miracle!!  Especially since this particular project involved the dreaded sewing machine….good Lord that thing HATES me!  But, alas, I did persevere…there were times when I thought I would succumb, but no, no I kept going and got those flippin curtains done in my bedroom!  Now, keep in mind it is only two panels….don’t’ judge!  If I could have made those hummers with hot glue, I would have!

Look at me go!!  I had to sew two DIFFERENT fabrics together AND add trim…..yeah, I know!

101_2095

Steve cut and hung the rods….that was way outside my area of expertise!  You have to measure that and rumor has it that it needs to be “accurate” measurements…..Lou Cinda out!  Can’t measure worth a flip!  I am a big fan of the “round up” method….all those little lines on the measuring tape…..who needs those?

This project all started with two pillow cases out of this fabric that I found at TJ Maxx.  LOVED the fabric!

101_2065

This fabric is Ralph Lauren and I actually found it by the yard CHEAP on eBay so I ordered yards of it.  I got one piece 100x100 for $35 and then I got another piece that was just a bit smaller for $27.  I know! Really good!

(Bella is very helpful)…

101_2099

The largest piece I used as a throw at the end of the bed….I still need to add some trim to that….

101_2106

Sharon and I found the ticking fabric for like $4 a yard and we loved it with the floral, so I did the bed skirt and bottom of the curtains out of that….

101_2100

That tacky little blue pillow is gone….I have fabric to make pillows (pray for me) and that is next on the list…also on the search for new lamps or maybe just shades….or maybe cover those shades…..the list never ends…..

I got the window over the bed at a shop I love and Seth gave me the wreath for Christmas…I have to watch Bella or she will just reach up there and pull her off a mouthful of feathers!

The required puddling…..

101_2092

So……what do you think??  I tell ya’ I’m just so happy to be done with them!!  I did one panel and then stopped….I hate it when I do that!!!  I am notorious for it!  Make my ownself nuts!

Thank you so much for stopping by and for being so wonderful and saying prayers for me….it means so much!

Hope you have a WONDERFUL day!! :)

  1. Hi, Lou Cinda! You did a great job on these. I use that trick with the short rods and the metal artwork between them often. It's such a great look.
I am so sorry about your friend, Tina and her husband. Your post about them and the storms was so beautifully written. We live with tornados all the time, here in Oklahoma, but the devestation they bring still comes as a shock...so hard to wrap your brain around that kind of damage and loss. You did a wonderful job sharing about your precious friend.

  2. Fabulousness, Lou Cinda! {Or as my good bloggy friend says, "SHUT UP"!} You did a great job and I love that you paired it with a ticking stripe fabric. I don't think you give yourself enough credit, girl! You've done upholstery and drapes now. You go! : ) Great idea bringing the fabric over to the bed in a dust ruffle and throw. Love that scroll work you put in between and your bunny prints, too.

  3. It's so good to see you back. Sometimes we all need time away from everything to regroup and refuel. Your curtains turned out beautifully.Doesn't it feel great to get a project done? Especially when its a dreaded one? I totally understand about the sewing machine! Everytime I make a collage I get all of it put together like I want it and then comes the sewing machine and the collage will lay there! Procrastinating the sewing part! :)

My friends don't understand the blog thing either. I try to talk to them about it and their eyes seem to glaze over-so I just shut up.

Praying for your friend's family and you for healing.
    Have a wonderful week.
    Hugs,
    Sonya

  6. LOVE the curtains! Must be nice to be able to sew like that :) I bought a machine at Goodwill and I got so far as to find the manual, via download, no less, on-line. Alas, that's as far as I've gotten. Oh, I did buy a bobbin for it. I'm pretty sure I'm afraid of the thing.
Bella does make that material even prettier!
    Glad to see you back.
    Prayers and ((hugs))

  13. Lou Cinda, You've been a busy girl. I like the fabric combo- so pretty. Pretty darn smart of you to fashion this window covering. What sweet little rabbit pictures off to the side of the panel, too. I've been sewing since I was a 4th grader. Glad I learned- saves $ on repairs. I've never taken on a drapery project, though, and probably never will. I did make a roman shade for a SIL, though. Not too hard. I give you props for your pretty project. :-)
    hugs, Sue

  15. Hi Lou Cinda,
So happy to hear from you! I know you had a very busy May and I am glad to read that you were able to relax for a week at the beach. Congrats to Cameron on his high school graduation.
You did an awesome job on the curtains. I love the combination of the fabrics and the trim and they look wonderful framing out the window. I do believe you can add "seamstress" to your resume!
Thanks for stopping by my blog and your comments. Your comments always make me smile!!

  17. Welcome back girl! Of course I am one of the "self absorbed" bloggers that did NOT check on you, but when I saw you comment on my post I thought "What the hell happened to Lou Cinda?????" Now I know and I hope you won't hold it against me :) Glad to see all is well and that you were a tad bit productive during your sabbatical. Oh yeah...about that measuring...I am with you. Unless it is a 1/2 or a 1/4 I am screwed.

  18. So glad to see you back Lou Cinda! You did great on the drapes - you're surely a braver soul than me. I would never even think to attempt Ralph Lauren and trim in the same project. And I'm so with you (and Sherry!) on the measuring. I just eyeball it and hope for the best!

  19. Congratulations to your son! We have one more year to wait for the graduation festivities for our son. And great job on the curtains. I have a similar shaped window and have looked at it for years not knowing quite what to do with it. Thanks for the great idea. It looks great!

  21. Hi Lou Cinda~
What a charming bedroom! Sewing, yes I understand. It sure saves money, but I still wonder while I'm doing it if it's worth it. Then of course when you stand back and see such lovely things as you just created you know it is.

It was so sweet to see my art in your bedroom!
Beau Bunny & Abigail Bunny Rabbits look like they are so very happy with "their" new room, too. :)

  22. Sweet Lucinda....

Sending hugs and prayers for continued healing. I just lost a friend SUDDENLY several weeks ago too. It's so hard, isn't it? Just to know I'll never see her smiling face again.... It's tough.

LOVE your curtains chickie... You did an amazing job. You know, that sewing thing takes practice.... And, after all these years, still have fits with my sewing machine too. Well, that and myself for making mistakes that require UN-PICKING... Did you know that's a four letter word? Oh how I hate it. So frustrating. But, mostly I persevere..... I will be living in my sewing room for the next couple weeks, trying to finish it for the Where Bloggers Create party....well, that and getting ready for a garage sale. Brother.... What in the heck is free time?

    Huggies to you...
