HAPPY BIRTHDAY CAMMIE PIE

This post is a little late, but what can I say....life happens!!
August 6th was Cameron's 17th birthday. I cannot even believe he is 17 and wish everyday that he was 2 again because...well...he was alot easier at 2 than he is at 17! When he was 2 he would rather be with me than anybody else in the whole wide world :) At 17? Not so much...

This is Janice, my BFF for a very long time, Cameron and the love of his life, Malory and her little sister Aubrey, who I think loves Cameron as much as Malory does. Malory made the cake for Cameron and this party was at her house. Malory is Janice's niece and Janice was there when Cameron was born! Cam and Malory used to play together when they were toddlers!

Blowing out the candles! Look at Malory's face. She is so beautiful and sweet! I love her too!

Aubrey is licking the icing off the candles! My favorite part!
Cam is telling Malory she did good.....I wish I was as tiny as she is.....

Okay, Cam is not the big smiley grinny kind-o-guy....obviously! Luckily, Malory is...

Happy Birthday my Cammie Pie! I love you even when you are moody and cranky and hormonally raging! That's what mother's are for....really.....it's okay.....
I've been told that this too shall pass...that he will return to me....normal.....not hormonal.....bubbly.....cheery......a joy every minute of the day.....
One can always hope....

THE BEDROOM :)

I have taken some random pictures in my bedroom, which is still being "tweaked". I will tweak it for the next zillion years I am sure. I never get quite finished with anything!

These photos are in no particular order (obviously) just what I pulled in....

This is the top of the armoire, which I have already changed since this photo was taken! lol I took away the birdnest and added more hydrangeas. Love hydrangeas, but they are MESSY in their dried state...

I got naked wall issues~looking for "stuff"

This is my dust ruffle which is actually a valance I bought at an estate sale. I just tucked it up under there and pinned it in place.

You cannot appreciate the enormosity of this bed! It was Steve's bed and I do love it, HOWEVER, Steve is not a big guy, at all! He is 5'10" (same height as me) and he is built up you know (got those "guns" as Cameron would say) but I would not think he would need a massive bed! He got not a King mind you, but a California King! Which I think is 4 inches LONGER than a King! Now....the issues with putting a bed that size into a room are aplenty! When we bought our house I fretted and fretted over the size of this bed and whether or not it would fit comfortably into the space. Well....it did....BUT there ain't gonna be no cartwheels going on in there, however, it does work. Made Stevie baby happy :) See my "M" on my lampshade? Got that from Twice as Nice. They are so sweet!

Now, this is my vanity that I have had for YEARS! This is where it all happens! I do everything here! Hair, make-up (or spackle as I call it) the works! When we were looking for a house I would say, there is nowhere for my vanity. Seth would say, your not gonna buy that house because there is nowhere for your vanity? Yep!
I had the skirt made and then I covered the top with a complimenting floral that I fell in love with. I covered it using spray adhesive, which is my tool of choice. So easy! And if you want to change it, you can pull it off in one piece. Simple!

Close up of the top...

Hope you all have a great day!

THE 100 MILE YARDSALE...RESULTS

I am a proud survivor of the 100 mile yard sale! It was HOT people and I mean REALLY, REALLY, HOT!!

Nevertheless, Steve and I head out Friday morning...

As we are perusing our first booth, Steve leans over and says"do you have any money? Well, no...not much cash! I have debit and checks, very little cash...so small detour to get cash then back at it!

This was actually an ice cream maker and it was churning it out all weekend long.

This was a box of neat door knobs! I love the glass ones, and wanted "some" to put in a bowl or lay in a silver tray...how much? $15.00 a piece! No thanks!

Booths like this were everywhere!

This looked like one of those big signs you used to see at service stations. Why would someone need this? I'm not sure.....but it is still there today.

I actually loved these architectural pieces, but they were $129 each! Out of my budget! Had to leave'em there...

Cammie Pie was checking out these tires. There were ALOT of tires at these yard sales.....

This was a cute tent, in the shade...

We got all the way to Dogtown where there is a really BIG furniture store called Akins Furniture...
We stopped at the 4-way stop there and I looked to my right and I saw this...

LOVED IT!! The fabric laying there is my chair fabric in my den now. Steve could not believe I had a piece of it with me in the car, but he went and got it so we could see if it would match, blend, work....AND IT DID!! My best friend, Janice, is a decorator and she knows my taste very well! I sent her a photo of it and she liked it too! They were having a BIG sale! I have skills in negotiations, so I found the sales person and we started chatting about it. Seems that this sofa has been discontinued and it was originally $799 but I got it for $325.00!!
Now this was my den BEFORE! Dark, dark, dark, sofa.

This is my den NOW!

SHUT UP!!! Do you LOVE it?? I really do love it! It looks so much lighter and brighter and cheerier than it did before! I need a pillow for my chair, so I will be looking for one!
Steve and I up to this point had spent $9, we were doing so good! lol
I told Cam we had gotten a sofa and when he walked in he said "It looks brand new!" I said "It is new." He thought we had gotten it out of someone's yard.
Well, we did...kinda!

100 Mile Yard Sale

We are going tomorrow to the 100 mile yard sale!!! I am so excited! Lucky for me, it starts right down the road from where I live in Gadsden (or I guess it could end here, depending on which way you are coming) lol!!

Steve and I took the day off so we could go. Sadly, none of my girlfriends really like to do this :( SO, Steve said he would go with me!!

I am TAKING MY CAMERA!! So I will take photos and document the day!

Last year we saw a jar of false teeth that was for sale....Seriously...false teeth!! It was hysterical :)

Wish us luck!!

Do I Still Have GIANT Grasshoppers?

I have had several inquiries as to whether or not the GIANT GRASSHOPPERS are still in residence in my yard....The answer is YES!!!! They are still here!!!! They are disgusting and HUGE and they are still loping around the yard and sitting in bushes and monkey grass, waiting on their opportunity to pounce on me!

Case in point....

Steve had hurt his lower back at work on Friday :( So he was moving a little slowly when he got home. I decided to be "helpful" and mow the grass for him. So I go and hop on the lawnmower and start tooling around the yard....mowing. On the side of our house we have these bushes of some sort with long fronds that gracefully arch out into the yard. They are so pretty. I was mowing up that side and I was getting real close to that bed and I look up........there heading right for my face was one of those BIG GIGANTIC GRASSHOPPERS perched on the end of one of those "fronds"! I, of course, start screaming like a banshee and flailing my arms around, I thought I was going to hyperventilate!

Poor Steve....poor, poor Steve.....God Bless that man! He hears me (of course, I am loud) He comes "hobbling" out there, I am sure expecting to see me chopped into little pieces, because surely, all of that screaming meant I had been seriously injured....I must have fallen off the lawnmower, or a huge tree limb must have fallen on me. Maybe I was hit by a wayward car...

Nope! Damn grasshoppers!

He looks at me with my hair all standing up all over my head where I had been running my hands through it to make sure "nothing" was in it, and then he walks over, finds the grasshopper and kills it. I say..."I am scared of those things...." He replies..."I know"

So he hobbles up and down the side of the house there and kills about NINE (9) of those little hummers. I have one more episode, on the other side of the yard, same situation, different grasshopper. Guess what? Exterminator Steve did not come.. :( He says he didn't hear me....(yeah right!)

I think I may on my own out here people! There's a NEW Sheriff in town!

I'm doomed...

A Vignette or Two Using Thrifty Treasures...

I am linking up with the fabulous Rhoda over at Southern Hospitality for her Thrifty Treasures Party! Rhoda has a new address which is southernhospitalityblog.com You are going to want to be able to find Rhoda....

I thought I would share a few vignettes that I have been working on. They are still a work in progress, per se...

This is sweet Chloe who was "lounging" in her favorite spot on my bench outside. I just thought this was a cute picture :)

This is a corner of my kitchen and I love the lamp. Seth got it for me and I just adore it!

Of course an obligatory shot of my honey pot that I got at the Estate sale a few weeks ago. I actually went back after it because I didn't get it the first time. It was still there, and only $2. I just love it for some reason...

This is in my den in the front window...I love that window! I am liking the way this is coming together, I changed it all around by taking my rabbit out of the window. He was pretty ticked, but I think he will get over it!

I love the birdcage, which I found at the wonderful TJ Maxx! The candlesticks I found at a yard sale for $3 for the pair and I spray painted them black.

You can also see out the window my future met monday post!

We are in the process of adding the mulch! Hopefully by next week, we will be done! We want to be done with that :)

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I hope you have a great week!
